Mathura Kalauny
 
Mathura Kalauny was born in 1947 in Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand. He was creatively inclined towards literary compositions from an early age. He started writing in 1980, in his early thirties. Established himself as a short story writer in a very short time. Most of the short stories are in the genre of humorous satire. He is now a renowned Hindi playwright having written 22 full length plays.
After completing his tenure as Research Manager in ITC's R&D , he nowadays lives in Bengaluru, and devotes his time in writing, theatre and training youngsters in the art of theatre.

He is a prominent member in Hindi literary and theatre circles of Bengaluru, including the prestigious literary group Shabd Sahityik Sanstha.

He founded Kalayan Theatre Group in 1988, since then he has produced and directed plays under the Kalayan banner.

He has done pioneering work in putting Hindi in the Web. He started the webzine Kalayan Patrika in 1999. At that time Kalayan Patrika was only the second Hindi web-mag. Since then the magazine has been serving tasteful Hindi literature to the readers from the established and upcoming Hindi authors.
